Since we announced in October our plans to join the Hackensack Meridian Health system, the excitement and promise of this merger have reverberated throughout both organizations. I am pleased to announce we have officially launched the Office of Integration and Transformation (OIT), a joint effort between us and Hackensack Meridian Health. This office will be the centralized mechanism to plan and design for our future as part of Hackensack Meridian Health, enabling us to provide even better care to patients and the communities we serve.
OIT Leadership and Teams
This new office will be headed by Helene Wolk, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, along with Alexa Gottdiener, MD, Chief of Medicine, and Mark Shapiro, MD, Chief of Radiology. Helene, Dr. Gottdiener, and Dr. Shapiro will partner with Hackensack Meridian Health executives Cathy Ainora, EVP and Chief Integration and Transformation Officer, and Maureen Keating, SVP, Strategic Development and Integration and Transformation, to lead these integration efforts.
The OIT will launch 20 teams, each charged with a different clinical or corporate service focus, jointly led by Englewood and Hackensack Meridian leaders. They will identify areas of opportunity for program development and integration and develop action plans and timelines to achieve the vision. Click here to see a list of the team leaders along with the members.
The teams, which will kick off their work in February, will be fully empowered to make decisions and recommendations for integration based on the best interests of our patients and the communities we serve. As the teams conduct their work, there will be opportunities to engage with other leaders, providers, and staff to gather feedback on ideas and goals. Updates will be communicated at leadership meetings and staff meetings.
To ensure our efforts are aligned, and because we are still undergoing regulatory review, it is crucial that we adhere to this centralized approach. No planning or activity related to the merger or discussions with Hackensack Meridian Health representatives can be conducted outside of OIT. During this review process, we remain focused on doing what we do so well: providing great care to our communities every day.
I want to thank the OIT leaders, the team leaders, and everyone involved in our exciting integration efforts. This is a truly transformational time and, with their leadership and everyone’s support, we’re embarking on historic progress for health care in our region.
With excitement for our future,
President and CEO
