Key Takeaways from Lung Cancer Grand Rounds

Earlier this month, Lewis Attas, MD, and Mikhail Tismenetsky, MD, pathologist, presented “Clinical Trials in and the Utilization of Molecular Pathology in Lung Cancer,” part of The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center Grand Rounds.

Key takeaway:

Every effort should be made to establish the genetic alteration status in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung carcinoma. Although tissue testing is the gold standard, plasma-based testing is a good option for certain patients. The pulmonary multidisciplinary conferences and established reflux testing protocols ensure proactive coordination and enable the cancer team to complete comprehensive biomarker testing in a timely fashion while improving quality of care for patients.
