Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances

As part of our commitment to provider convenience and patient safety, Englewood Health is implementing Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS), effective January 20, 2020.

EPCS will allow you to prescribe controlled substances through Epic routed to an EPCS-authorized pharmacy.

In accordance with NJ law, each provider needs to enroll in the system through a simple, one-time, in-person process. All providers who prescribe controlled substances in an Englewood Hospital or Englewood Health Physician Network setting must complete this enrollment, even if you have enrolled at another facility.

How to Enroll

If you are an EHPN provider, contact your office manager. All other providers should contact the EH Medical Staff Office, 201-894-3010.

Enrollment must be completed in person, as part of the process involves “identity proofing,” by January 19.

Once you are enrolled, you will be able to legally transmit electronic prescriptions for controlled substances.
