Englewood Health Physician Network

EHPN News in Brief: July 31, 2019

Updates from Dr. Stephen Brunnquell, EHPN President

  • EHPN Breakfasts: Starting in September, look for monthly breakfasts for new providers in EHPN. These will be held to introduce EHPN to new doctors and other providers. As we have become a true network, we need to share this concept and how it has made patient care better. There will be more information coming, but there will be time during the breakfasts for EHPN docs to meet these new members and introduce themselves and their practice.
  • Standings Committees: I have asked the co-chairs to look at their rosters and consider whom they would like to invite to become a member. Anyone who wishes to sit on one of these committees can email me.
  • Fall Business Meeting: Dates are being considered now for late September. The format will be similar to last fall, when we held a “back-to-school” style meeting where members could learn about the Standing Committees and what issues they have tackled in the last year. A social hour and dinner precede the program. Details to follow.
  • Discharge Planning: We have been working toward real population health management for a while now. This has included our Quality Initiative effort to improve our patients’ health. Now we want to manage our patients better when they are in the hospital and especially at discharge. In September, every discipline that touches a patient in the hospital will meet to discuss how we can improve our rate of patients going directly home. The results of Comprehensive Joint Replacement at EH have proven that patients recover faster and have fewer complications and readmissions if they go directly home. There will always be some who will need rehab, so we need to identify the best rehabs in our area and follow patients there ourselves. This will allow us to manage their care and get them home faster. More to come.
